Stretching your Ears
Stretching your ears is a common practice at this point, and is performed at most piercing shops. The prices for this service vary all over the country, but it is safe to say you will usually have to pay for the new jewelry (plugs, tunnels or larger rings) and the cost of "tapering", where a piercer will push a tapered (sterile) spike of stainless steel through your existing hole. Piercers will usually only stretch up to two gauges at a time, so you will probably have to go back a couple of times if you want really big holes. Your ears may bleed after being stretched, so you'll need to take care of them as you would any fresh piercing. Make sure you keep your newly stretched holes clean with a sterile saline solution, and follow any instructions given to you by your piercer for aftercare.
