Q: I have an 8mm plug in my ear and I`d like a flared plug, but would this mean I`d have to stretch the hole further to fit in the flared ends?

Flared Plug
Some plugs are straight while others have flared or widened ends. The flares on a plug are usually not large enough to require stretching your holes further. They're more like a bump that keeps the plug in place. It might take a little extra wiggling to get the flared end through your hole, but a good suggestion is to lube it up with some Bacitracin (or other antibiotic ointment, not cream) and slide it in. Also, you can get plugs that are flared on just one side, so the front can look flared while the back is normal sized with a rubber o-ring to keep it on. This makes it easier to put the jewelry in without any discomfort but still achieves the look of a flared plug.
