Q: I just recently got my nose pierced and I have a stud in it. I bought a new stud for it, but it does not go all the way through the piercing. Can I still use the new stud or should i get a new one that goes all the way through?

Nose Studs
Nose studs are different than nose screws, which are bent at the back and literally screw into your nostril piercing. Studs are straight pieces of metal with or without a ball at the tip so it can stay in place. The width of your nostril varies, so not all studs are going to be long enough to go through all piercings. You should invest in a stud that goes all the way through. If you don't, the stud may fall out and the inner hole of your piercing will most likely grow shut, preventing you from putting any other stud back in. You don't want to have to get your nose repierced. Piercers also recommend waiting the period of time your piercer told you it would take to heal before changing any jewelry.
